Message from the Director - Mary McCluskey -12/31/09

Well, I didn't tell any of you dear readers that I had a goal this year to write at least as many messages as I did last year.  Today I am beating my record of 21 with the 22nd message of 2009!  Never mind that I had to write these last two messages only a few days apart!

Today was a lovely sunny day, a great day to get the skis out and celebrate the end of 2009.  I have finally figured out that hills are not for me on skis, at least not for now as I'm too new to this.  Monday I took a pretty bad fall and banged up my right thumb so badly I had to cancel massage appointments.  This is not what I envisioned with taking up this new sport.

So, I went totally flat today.  I got on the Bugline rail-to-trail route in Menomonee Falls.  I even took my little dachshund, Charlie, along to see how he would do.  Well, I have found my place in the ski world!!  Today is the first day I didn't fall on my skis.  And Charlie thought running behind me in my tracks was just grand!

I hope you all find ways to make the long winter fun and active.  Happy New Year!  Enjoy it responsibly and get home safe tonight.  Thank you for reading my messages this year.  I hope to have more to say in 2010.

                      Charlie, the ski-dog!

The beautiful Bugline in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Mary is upright on her skis, yippee!
